TRIO Soon/Piho/Lepasson is a group of three kannel players (Katrin Soon, Ann Maria Piho and Kadri Lepasson), dedicated to historical and contemporary playing techniques of this ancient Estonian folk instrument. Traditional tunes, original compositions and improvisation are combined in trio’s repertoire to create a light and bright soundscape, that offers calmness in the everyday rush. “Confidently fragile,” says poetess Kristiina Ehin, describing their music.
TRIO Soon/Piho/Lepasson has performed on Estonian folk music stages as well as abroad, gaining recognition for its unique approach to traditional kannel music. In 2016 trio released their first album “Tempo di Vals”, that was nominated for the best album at the Estonian folk music awards Etnokulp.
